Mission & Vision
The mission of Camerata Chamber Singers is to perform a broad variety of musical genres with emphasis on chamber works which inspire, entertain, and educate our singers and audiences.
The vision of Camerata Chamber Singers is to be a collaborative artistic presence in the Prescott community, reaching out to other non-profit musical ensembles. Camerata Chamber Singers strives to perform in a variety of community venues and to build a reputation of cooperation and musical excellence.
Our History
Camerata Singers was established in 2010 and has continued to grow artistically since that time.
Originally conceived as a self-directing ensemble, Camerata has evolved into an auditioned chamber choir directed by Jim Klein. The singers in Camerata are all trained musicians, all of whom sing in other performing ensembles in and around Prescott, AZ. While Camerata focuses primarily on classical repertoire, the group’s musical flexibility enables it to present contemporary works, vocal jazz, spirituals and lighter fare as well.
Who are we and what makes us special?
Camerata Chamber Singers (CCS) is composed of 20 highly accomplished and dedicated choristers. A chamber choir (often referred to as “chamber singers”) is a smaller and more select choral ensemble than most choruses which would often have two or three times the number of singers. CCS is a balanced ensemble of 10 sopranos and altos and 10 tenors and basses. Singers include choral conductors, instrumental conductors, instrumentalists, music majors, physicians, engineers, teachers, as well as others who are gifted singers. Many of them have performed as soloists in other various ensembles and church choirs, as well.
The chamber choir repertoire is often a cappella, but can also be accompanied by a solo instrument or a small group of instruments. The music performed is generally more classical in nature, but can also include folk music, spirituals, popular tunes, and jazz arrangements.
The Camerata Chamber Singers will surprise and delight you with a wonderful and entertaining mix of classic favorites as well as contemporary music seldom heard, all from a variety of genres.
